Sam Albert was employed for 30 years at IBM, and is noted for creating IBM's first business partnering program that is recognized as one of the most innovative marketing techniques in the company's history.

He nailed the term co-opetition* (to help define the delicate balance between partnerships operating as competitors and co-operators. Simply put, co-opetition is about cooperating with your competitors and competing with your friends) and witnessed the rise of technology star companies and mingled with the biggest names in the industry.

Albert was a widely respected name in IT circles. Since retiring from IBM in 1989, he has often been quoted in most major media, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, radio and TV, regarding his insights into the rapidly changing IT industry.

New York City learned about computers via his 10 years CompuTips radio show.

Till the end, he was witty, funny, sharp and filled with dreams and projects he had yet to achieved.

He was a mentor, friend and is missed.
