Accessibility Statement

This website has been designed with accessibility in mind. Why do it?

Firstly, demonstrating that we walk the talk as a supplier.

Secondly, showing that accessible design can still be good looking.

Thirdly, believing that publishing accessible content for the web while being required for some, can be a smart move for others.

It is about designing so that more people can use your website effectively in more situations - Constructing Accessible Web Sites by Jim Thatcher (Editor) et al.

Be it for people with disabilities using assistive technologies or for the growing group of users accessing through alternative devices such as PDAs, cell phones, Pocket PCs and Tablets.

Building accessible websites is building for tomorrow while starting today servicing a larger audience.

Accessible features on this site include:

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

All pages define the following access keys:

Keyboard Navigation

A Tabindex order has been inserted for all links and form controls to permit tabbing through content without the use of the mouse.

Skip and Pre Navigation Links

For mobility impaired and/or screen reader users, links to main content, Accessibility page and sitemap have been put at the beginning of each page. They are invisible to the average user but will be highlighted when on focus or hover. To see them just use the tab key until you see or hear them or simply pass the cursor over the top left corner of the red container.

Navigation aids - <link> Tags

All pages on this site have next, first, previous and contents links to aid navigation. These links work in text-only browsers and screen readers. Mozilla users can also take advantage of this feature by selecting the View menu, Show/Hide, Site Navigation Bar, Show Only As Needed (or Show Always). Opera 7 has similar functionalities.

Links

Many links have title attributes which either describe the link in greater detail where the text does not make sense out of context or display complementary information.

Many browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx, and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page and allow the user to browse the list, separately from the page.

Link text is never duplicated; two links with the same link text always point to the same address.

There are no "javascript:" pseudo-links.

All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.

There are no links that open new windows without warning.

Images

All images used include descriptive ALT attributes. Decorative graphics with no added information value include null ALT attributes.

Visual design

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.

If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page was formatted to be readable.

Font Size

This site uses relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.

Comprehensive Language

Although the copy of this site is quite straight forward, it is none the less written in a creative direct style and we are aware that some expressions, and figure of speech can be hard to read by adaptive technologies. e.g.: Pixl>table whereas the ">" character might not be understood by a screen reader user.

Still, we think that these creative digressions are in no way an hindrance to a full understanding of content.

Standards compliance

All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H1, H2 tags are used for main titles, H3 tags for subtitles.

All pages on this site are in the process of being checked for Section 508 compliance with all of the U.S. Federal Government Section 508 Guidelines.

All pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict. A program can determine whether a page is valid XHTML. For example, you can check for XHTML validity.
